As with most poetry collection, there were some poems I liked better than others and I do think I like some of Tempest's other works better, but this was still very good and very powerful! Featuring a vibrant rainbow design, and our super-sized Q logo, you won't find a more stylish way to make a statement.

Their debut novel, "The Bricks That Built The Houses", sold in a highly competitive auction to Bloomsbury and was published in territories including the UK, US, France, Holland and Brazil in Spring 2015. They received the Ted Hughes Award for their long-form narrative poem Brand New Ancients and the Leone D’Argento at the Venice Teatro Biennale for their work as a playwright. There were some great and lovely poems in this collection and Tempest's rhythm and feeling for language is amazing.

Kae Tempest has changed their pronouns since I read their last collection, which I massively enjoyed. It’s poems about human relations, and the human condition are underlain and, at times, filled with anger. Questions of integrity - hence the prime number of the title - are addressed in direct, affecting terms: how can we be true to ourselves while under constant pressure to conform? For fifty years, she has trained to slay wyrms - but none have appeared since the Nameless One, and the younger generation.Infused with all of their rich lyrical skill and unforgettable imagery, Tempest's bravura collection mines themes of transformation, identity and reaction against conformity with unparalleled insight and verve. The Loop" was the standout, and the final poem, a "Love Song" dedicated to the LGBT+ community was a powerful and beautiful way to close the collection. They received Mercury Music Prize nominations for both of the albums Everybody Down and Let Them Eat Chaos , and two Ivor Novello nominations for their song-writing on The Book of Traps and Lessons . It is more powerful than a surrender and it becomes celebratory but doesn't shy away from pain and anger and the rawness of the unshaping process. kae has such a kind and humble writing that digs all of our hidden parts the feelings we reject the face we see in the mirror.

A new poetry collection from Britain's foremost truth-teller, in Divisible by Itself and One Kae Tempest masterfully steers a path between their more public-facing performance and dramatic work and the contemplative voice that came to the fore in Running Upon the Wires. Taking its bearings - and title - from the prime number, Divisible by Itself and One is concerned, ultimately, with integrity: how to live in honest relationship with oneself and others. Divisible by Itself and One is the powerful new collection from our foremost truth-teller Kae Tempest. Divisible by Itself and One is also a book about human form, the body as boundary and how we are read by the world. They have published plays, poems, a novel, a book-length essay, released albums and toured extensively, selling out shows from Reykjavik to Rio de Janeiro.I read Kae Tempest 's novel The Bricks That Built the Houses a while ago and it is still up there with my favourites. I think I will read whatever Kae Tempest will publish, even though the poems in this collection didn’t speak to me as much as their previous work. I enjoy their poems the most when they tell a story, more than when they “just” describe a feeling or situation.

As always with poetry, some just resonated with me more than others and I can't exactly pinpoint why. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Brand New Ancients", their self-performed epic poem to a live score, won the Ted Hughes Award 2012 and the Herald Angel at Edinburgh Fringe. We don’t share your credit card details with third-party sellers, and we don’t sell your information to others. Taking its bearings – and title – from the prime number, Divisible by Itself and One is concerned, ultimately, with integrity: how to live in honest relationship with oneself and others. The one thing that I find impressive about all of Kae Tempest's work is the nice rhythm that carries through their poetry. The abstractness and symbolism in many instances obscures the message and meaning of the poem despite the power of the language used by the poet.
